PEDCO has developed an Adsorptive Gas-Dryer Simulation program that is sold commercially to dryer manufacturers, engineering firms, desiccant manufacturers, and dryer users. The software predicts the performance of adsorptive desiccant dryers by solving the conservation equations of mass, energy, and momentum subject to the specified dryer geometry and operating conditions.
The Instruction Manual is available in pdf format. An evaluation copy of the program will be provided upon request.
PEDCO possesses significant experience in the engineering, design, application, analysis, and operation of gas dryers. This experience includes a broad range of flow rates, temperatures, operating pressures, gas types, and dew point requirements. Dryer types include refrigerated, adsorptive desiccant (heated and pressure swing), absorptive desiccant (solid and liquid absorbents), and membranes.
Projects have been completed for dryers ranging in size from 0.5 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) to 1,000,000 scfm. Energy management control systems have been developed by PEDCO personnel.
Process & Equipment Development Corporation (PEDCO) applies its extensive academic and practical process expertise in thermal-fluid science to efficiently and accurately execute client’s projects. These projects can involve Product, Process, or System Development, Analysis, or Troubleshooting; Development of Custom Computer Simulations; Optimization and Sensitivity Analysis; Design Review; Performance/Validation Testing; Product Economic and Performance Evaluations; etc. PEDCO can support the client by executing a complete turnkey project or any phase of a project.
PEDCO has extensive theoretical and practical expertise in thermal-fluid sciences – heat transfer, mass transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, refrigeration, adsorption, absorption, psychometrics, and separation. After a project is defined, PEDCO’s theoretical experience is utilized to identify the relevant governing physical equations describing the process. An Excel® spreadsheet or Visual Basic® computer program is developed to solve these equations to automate the design calculation process and enable efficient process optimization. Drawings and bills-of-material are prepared incorporating PEDCO’s hardware knowledge and experience. Breadboards to collect operating data, prototypes for design validation, or the final products are produced.
Facilities
PEDCO’s in-house facilities for CAD, fabrication, and testing enable quick and efficient project execution. Drawings and design models are prepared using AutoCAD® or Pro/DESKTOP® software. Breadboard and prototype assembly and testing can be conducted in-house or at the client’s facility as the situation dictates.
PEDCO possesses significant experience in the engineering, design, and application of heat exchangers. PEDCO has worked with numerous fluid and phase change combinations and most heat exchanger types. Heat exchanger types include shell-and-tube (fixed and removable bundles), tube(s)-in-tube, compact, plate, augmented heat transfer surface, etc.
PEDCO possesses broad capabilities to develop industrial products and processes requiring thermal-hydraulic expertise
and process control. The development process starts by identifying process/product requirements and ends with
commissioning or product delivery. The development process is basically the same irrespective of project size. PEDCO
has the ability to independently complete smaller projects or work with engineering companies, civil, mechanical , electrical,
and I&C contractors to execute larger projects. The development process is customized based on client needs, project
complexity and time allocation. Client participation is based on availability of the client’s staff, unique capabilities and
facilities of the client, and specific project issues. See an example Project Execution here.
